Supporting you on your journey
What is Client-Centered Therapy?
Developed by psychologist, Carl Rogers (1940s), it is a form of non-directive therapy. The core values of Client-Centered Therapy (CCT) involves the belief that each individual has the potential and capacity for personal growth and change. Accordingly, CCT assists clients in building a stronger understanding of self by providing unconditional empathic support.
Why Client-Centered Therapy?
One of the benefits of non-directive therapy is that individuals are given the freedom to explore. This takes into account that everyone develop at a different pace and have different needs. Evidence have indicated the effectiveness of CCT towards reducing anxious thoughts and depressive symptoms. Therapists facilitate the sessions while individuals can explore their problems with guidance, support and minimal structure. This is particularly beneficial for those who dislike constraints. With collaborative effort, individuals are provided with clearer insight towards their own problems and build stronger foundations towards solutions to ongoing problems.
The main orientation at CIP Counseling is Client-Centered therapy. Depending on individual needs, other therapeutic techniques may be used, including (but not limited to) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Gestalt Therapy.
